EEBA's mission is to provide opportunities for students and individuals of underrepresented communities to enter the sustainable building industry. One of our top priorities is to make sure our community is accessible and inclusive to everyone. We know that communities of color have disproportionate access to sustainable resources, in addition to bearing the majority of climate and environmental health risks. It is vital, now more than ever, to facilitate connections between all members of the sustainable building community and ensure that students of color, women, and veterans in transition have the necessary resources to excel in our industry.

Summit Student Scholarship

The EEBA NextGen Scholarship successfully launched in 2018, allowing students from across the U.S. and Canada to attend the EEBA High Performance Home Builder Summit.  Every year, students from Solar Decathlon winning teams are given the opportunity to present their projects to Summit attendees and also attend networking events to make valuable connections with industry professionals.

This year, we are proud to sponsor eight Design Challenge winners and two Build Challenge winners to attend the 2023 Summit.

Each scholarship provides a student with full Summit registration and meals, double-occupancy for three hotel nights, tickets for networking events, and a transportation stipend. Sponsors of the scholarship fund are fully committed to bringing young, new talent into the building industry and acknowledge the responsibility is partially theirs to raise up the next generation of building science professionals. All Sponsors are invited to the Student Reception.

The knowledge and connections I gained from attending this EEBA summit really opened my eyes to the incredible breadth of technologies and expertise it takes to build sustainable homes, and I hope to join you all on your critical mission of combating climate change in the future as a practicing mechanical engineer.

Never before have we as an industry seen innovation like we are today. Manufacturers are bringing new, exciting products to market constantly. Creative new thinking will be the key to integrating these innovations into high performance homes for the good of the industry. The next generation of builder thinkers coming up through colleges and trade schools will be the leaders of tomorrow to tackle these opportunities.
